Mission Statement

Mission Statement of the Urasenke Midorikai Alumni Association

The mission of the Alumni AssoTciation is to provide an organization for former Midorikai students to maintain contact with each other in support of their efforts to continue their involvement in the Way of Tea and to uphold the timeless principles of Urasenke in the 21st century.

Membership in the Association will be voluntary. There will be three categories of Urasenke Midorikai Alumni Association members:

Category 1 - Anyone who completed a minimum of one year at Midorikai as a teacher or student.

Category 2 - Anyone who attended Midorikai for less than a year, those that participated in ICI (International Chado Institute) or other non-Japanese-oriented Urasenke teaching forums.

Category 3 - Anyone who wishes to support the organization with contributions, known as a "Friend of Midorikai."

The Association will be funded by contributions and fundraising activities undertaken by the Association's alumni members.

Non Profit Organization

The Urasenke Midorikai Alumni Association (UMAA) became a United States 501(c)(3) non profit public charity effective August 1, 2014. We are able to receive tax deductible bequests and gifts as permitted by law.
